These three charming huts, beautifully secluded and surrounded by rice fields and the Sado River, are the perfect place for a family reunion or a group of friends with children looking to spread out and relax in style. All three have been tastefully decorated whilst retaining a rustic charm that will appeal to those looking for a luxurious place to stay without feeling impersonal. The Main Hut is the hub of the property, designed for entertainment and gathering. Overlooking the fields and river, it is the perfect spot for a sunset aperitif and has a fabulous covered dining area with cushioned bench seating for up to 12 people. There is a fully equipped open plan kitchen and lounge decorated entirely in white and natural tones, with plenty of cosy seating and comfortable throws for everyone. There is also an outdoor barbecue where you can grill the fresh fish you have caught that day. If you prefer to take a break from cooking, the owners can hire a private chef to come and cook up some local delicacies for you. This hut has two en-suite bedrooms, both tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Lovely touches are everywhere, from the blue and white tiled floor in the shower room to the bright blue Smeg fridge in the kitchen. The second hut is built from local timber in a contemporary style but remains true to the simplicity of the local fishermen’s cottages. The owners have named it the Hutte Amoureuse and for good reason. It has a bedroom with a king-size four-poster bed draped in pure white linen and is ideal for a romantic couple looking to get away from the crowd. There is a dressing room and a large, elegant bathroom with a walk-in shower and a long, deep bath. Surrounded only by stunning views, it is a haven in which to relax. The third hut is affectionately called the ‘kids hut’ and has three bedrooms, two with twin beds and a third with bunk beds. The twin bedrooms are also suitable for single adults, and whether you’re small or tall, the bohemian decor and whimsical little kitchen will please everyone. This is a space where you can let the kids run free while you sip on a glass of something delicious, somewhere else! There is a small lounge and table where the kids can eat together if you want to prepare a separate meal for them. There is a full bathroom but most will want to use the outdoor shower, which is much more fun after a day at the beach. The kids hut overlooks the garden and pool and there are two outdoor lounge areas where you can lie on day beds and read, curl up in an armchair and enjoy a cold beer or slip into a hammock and take a nap. As if all this wasn’t already wonderful, there’s also a treehouse! A joy that will make the holiday extra special for the kids. Comporta, a fishing town, is known for its long sandy beaches and excellent seafood, much of which is bought fresh off the boats each morning. There are several great places to eat, where you can sample traditional local dishes or enjoy king prawns and lobster rolls near Carvalhal Beach. For the horse-riding enthusiasts among you, there are also plenty of opportunities to go horse riding – a popular activity for visitors and locals alike. There are three main beaches to choose from, the closest being four kilometres from the huts, Pego Beach, a great spot for sunset dinners and water sports.
